A GENTLEMAN’S GUIDE TO LOVE & MURDER==>A

Saturday==>So ... weather-wise the weekend isn’t off to a very good start. At 10:00am it is lightly snowing with temperature of 35º, wind chill 28º. Fortunately the snow/rain is forecast to be over in mid-afternoon. Sunday is supposed to be sunny and in the high 30s.

Oh, well ... just gotta live with it ... so ... let’s get started with Billi Pod’s report card on last night’s Broadway show ...

A GENTLEMAN’S GUIDE TO LOVE & MURDER, the musical about Monty Navarro, a distant heir to a family fortune, who sets out to speed up the line of succession using charm and a dash of murder==>A

Yes, my loyal and faithful readers and followers, this is a clever/witty musical about a serial killer. It is at times outrageously funny and the acting, staging, music and lyrics are terrific.

The highlight of the evening is Jefferson Mays, who sings, dances, ice-skates, bicycles and generally romps through eight roles of the doomed family, flipping among personas male, female and somewhere in between, at a pace that is simply amazing.

I was also very impressed with Bryce Pinkham in the lead role of Monty Navarro. He has a great tenor voice and just enough comic skills and timing to make his murderous character seem likable.

The house was full and gave the performers a well-deserved roaring standing ovation at curtain-call.

My seat was excellent, in the second row of the front mezzanine. Perfecto.

Billi Pod says==>if you need a good laugh and a good time, then see this show.

It is playing at the Walter Kerr Theatre on West 48th Street, has a running time of 2:20, with intermission, and is currently selling tickets through June 15th.

Yeah ... I left the theater with a huge smile on my face.

That smile was taken away on the walk back to the apartment. Why? Well, as I was crossing the street at 46th and 9th Avenue I stepped into a pothole, lost my balance and took an awkward tumble, landing hard on my right side.

Awkward!! A nice guy, who was right behind me, literally picked me up and helped me reach the other side. Luckily, all of the layers I was wearing kept me from sustaining any major cuts and/or bruises.

When I got back to PHC and undressed I found a slight contusion on the side of my right knee and that was all. This morning I am just a bit stiff, but other than that, everything is OK. Whew ...

Folks, Billi Pod’s Guardian Angel once again came to his rescue because it could have been really bad.

OK ... now ... let’s move on to today ... and ... today is going to be an entertainment doubleheader for your favorite blogger here in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World ... beginning with ...

2:30==>MUSICALS IN MUFTI: Sheldon Harnicks A World to Win - “A sampling of Sheldon Harnick’s wide-ranging career as a musical theatre writer.” (Off Broadway - discounted TDF ticket)

As a reminder, “Mufti” (pronounced MUFF' tee) means "in street clothes; without the usual trappings" and each show in the Series is presented script-in-hand, with minimal staging.

This is the World Premiere of this work and is the first of 5 shows involving Sheldon Harnick. It is playing at The York Theatre @ The Citigroup Center on East 54th Street and has remaining performance dates of tonight at 8:00pm and Sunday @ 2:30pm & 7:30pm

As you loyal and faithful readers and followers know, I am a huge fan of The York Theatre Company and its Artistic Director, James Morgan, who is also a Florida Gator.

Then for the evening is an Off Broadway show ...

8:00==>COLUMBIA: THE LIFE AND DEATH OF ROSPO D. ORO - “This new original musical follows Rospo’s wild ride down his self destructive path in pursuit of faster vehicles in order to chase his destiny and outrun his past. But what is he running away from.” (Off Broadway - $9.00 TDF ticket)

This show is playing at The Theatre Row Complex, on my block, has a running time of 1:40, without intermission, and runs through January 25th.

So ... everyone ... this brings you up-to-date. Time to post and then get ready to start my doubleheader.

Oh ... at 11:30am the snow and rain has stopped but it is still gray and ugly out.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE!

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>3.10 miles (or, 6,794 steps)

Total mileage for 2014==>42.32 miles (average 2.49 miles per day)

GO GATORS!!
