AJ Burnett aka Loser Boi Does His Job==>Hallelujah!!

It is a beautiful fall day in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World. Sunny, azure blue skies with few clouds.

HALLELUJAH!! Yes, my loyal and faithful readers - miracles can happen and they indeed happened last night at Comerica Park as AJ Burnett aka Loser Boi pitched an outstanding game, even though he got off to a rocky start in the first inning. He went 5 2/3 innings, giving up only 1 run on 4 hits. Our bullpen held the Tigers hitless for the rest of the game.

As you know, The Yankees won 10-1 as our long dormant bats came alive and we pounded the Tigers. But the game-turner/game-savers were two outstanding defensive plays by center fielder Curtis Granderson.

You know, my loyal and faithful readers, as “they” say, you gotta give The Devil his due and Loser Boi came through when everything was on the line in a win-or-go-home situation. So ... these are the story lines in the local papers ...

“MR. OCTOBER! - A.J.’s gem helps Yanks force Game 5” - NY Post

“WHO’S A BUM! - With season at stake, A.J. stifles Tigers as Yanks force Game 5” - Daily News

“UNEXPECTED BONUS - Thrust Into Rotation, Burnett is Solid as Yankees Force Game 5” - NY Times

Game 5 will be at 8:07pm on Thursday in da Bronx at Yankee Stadium, The House That Greed And Ego Built.

Speaking of high drama==>On the mound for this final ALDS game will be ... gasp ... wow ... I mean ... WTF ... rookie Ivan Nova. Does anyone else get the irony that we have had to depend on AJ Burnett aka Loser Boi and a rookie pitcher in the two most important games of the season thus far? Yeah, I know. Not sure this could have happened under GeorgeS.

Man, for high baseball drama you couldn’t have scripted it any better. The weather is predicted to be good, with no rain in the forecast. Billi Pod will be there in his usual seat.

I regret that The Rays were eliminated. Despite the crucial nature of this game, it was not a sellout. Folks, it is only a matter of time (and shorter than most people believe IMHO) before this franchise flees the Tampa Bay area. The residents will have only themselves to blame because this has been a competitive team for at least the last 5 years and attendance has sucked every year. Oh well ...

Billi Pod’s entertainment event for tonight is ...

7:30==>NEW YORK PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA @ Avery Fisher Hall - The program is: Bach - Concerto for Two Violin; Berg - Violin Concerto; and, Brahms - Symphony No. 3. (subscription series)

Yes, I am really looking forward to this concert as a much-needed break from baseball.

GO YANKEES AND GO GATORS!!
