Back to Work Monday - Saturday Night - At This Performance

Monday==>OK everyone out there in the morass known as cyberspace ... just tone it down ... take a deep breath and get back to work.

Remember, especially those of you loyal and faithful readers and followers who are also Worker Bees ... you have a responsibility to keep working and improving our Gross National Product (GNP) so that we poor retirees can continue to eke by on our pitiful pensions and stipends.

So ... just calm down and get back to work ... ASAP!! It is so ordered!!

Now, on a happier note ... we will move on to Billi Pod’s report card on yesterday’s Musicals in Mufti show at The York Theatre ...

SATURDAY NIGHT, about Gene who isn't satisfied with life in Brooklyn - no, he's meant for bigger things. After crashing a party and meeting a fabulous southern dame (also a crasher) he comes up with a scheme to get rich quick on the market, and this plan can't fail ... can it?==>A

Once again The York Theatre Company and its Artistic Director Jim Morgan, and his outstanding staff, have put together another totally enjoyable entertainment event with a long-forgotten and/or virtually overlooked musical, this time the first musical with music and lyrics by the now legendary Stephen Sondheim.

This is Mufti production #100. They began the series back in 1994

I continue to be amazed that they can put together such a stellar production with only 30-hours of rehearsal time.

The songs and lyrics are engrossing and the story line is funny and enjoyable.

The cast is terrific ... headed by Ben Fankhauser as Gene and Matthew Bauman, Jeremy Greenbaum, Greg Kamp, Andrew Keenan-Bolger and Jared Loftin as Gene's 5 single and horny 'hood buddies.

As part of the Musicals in Mufti Series it is performed as a staged concert production, in street clothes with scripts in hand.

Billi Pod says==>see this if you possibly can.

It is playing at The York Theatre @ The Citigroup Center on East 54th Street, has a running time of 2:15, with intermission, and runs through November 16th.

I left the theater with a big smile on my face. It had gotten colder and because I had only worn my windbreaker I opted to subway back to the apartment rather than walk the 2.5 miles as originally planned.

This ultimately resulted in one of the lowest mileage weeks in a long long time ... only 21.76 miles for an average of only 3.11 miles per day. Oh well ... hopefully I’ll get back on track during the upcoming week.

Moving on ...

Tonight’s entertainment event is an Off Broadway production by Musicals Tonight ...

7:00==>AT THIS PERFORMANCE - “In this Musicals Tonight production Broadway understudies and standbys from ALADDIN, BEAUTIFUL, CABARET, HEATHERS THE MUSICAL, HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, LES MISERABLES, ON THE TOWN, and ROCKY THE MUSICAL will sing a song from their show and then a song from their own repertoire.” (Off Broadway - full price ticket)

This is the 12th season for this showcase that has already featured over 700 Broadway understudies and standbys from over 300 shows. I have seen several productions and have totally enjoyed each one because they are each different.

I saw the last production of this series back on October 26th, with a totally different cast, and gave it an A.

It is playing at The Theatre Row Complex on my West 42nd Street block, has a running time of 1:45  (I think), without intermission, and tonight is its only performance date.

Moving on ...

This is Monday so it is your favorite blogger’s usual errands and chores day and, for some reason, the to-do list is a bit longer than usual ... so ... I will post this and then get to work.

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>2.12 miles (or, 4,928 steps)

Total mileage for the week==>21.76 miles (average 3.11 miles per day)

Total mileage for 2014==>1,275.20 miles (average 4.07 miles per day)
