THE LOVES OF MR. LINCOLN==>B+

Wednesday==>Good afternoon to all of my loyal and faithful readers and followers. Your favorite blogger is sorry about the lateness of this posting, but ... trust me ... he has a legitimate excuse ... he just got back from having an awesome lunch with some out-of-town friends, Tammy Serebrin and Eileen Schofield, both of Lakeland, FL. The details will be in tomorrow’s posting ... so ...

Let’s get today’s posting started with Billi Pod’s report card on last night’s Off Broadway show ...

THE LOVES OF MR. LINCOLN, basically about Lincoln’s love for his “friend” Joshua Speed==>B+

The premise of the show is based largely on the letters exchanged between Lincoln and Speed over the years.

Lincoln (poor, gangly and shy) and Speed (wealthy, outgoing and handsome), actually shared a bed when the young Lincoln was a state legislator in Springfield, IL.

Lincoln’s wife, Mary Todd, comes off as an extremely conflicted woman who is by turns charming and cutting, cordial and cunning, jealous and supportive.

Make no mistake about it, the thrust (no pun intended) of the show is that there was a covert sexual relationship between Lincoln and Speed that spanned decades.

The acting is excellent and the show is very informative. My only quibble is that at 2:30, with an intermission, it could use some serious trimming.

The show is playing at the Abingdon Theatre Complex on West 36th Street and runs through June 16th.

Billi Pod says==>it is worth seeing.

Moving on to tonight’s entertainment event ...

7:00==>MY SON THE WAITER, A JEWISH TRAGEDY - “Brad Zimmerman’s one-man show about his struggles in New York City to become an actor, his family, his career and his misbegotten love life.” (Off Broadway - discounted TDF ticket)

Zimmerman has toured the country with this show to mostly very favorable reviews.

It is playing at Symphony Space @ Broadway and 95th Street.

Now, my loyal and faithful readers, it is time for a little sports ...

Last night in Oakland the Yankees got their butts spanked, losing 6-4, as CC Sabathia had another tepid outing.

Tonight @ 10:05pm EST it will be the second game of the 3-game series with Phil Hughes (3-4) on the mound for The Bronx Bombers vs. Dan Straily (3-2) for The Athletics.

Moving on some more ...
Well ... as anticipated ... Tebowmania has overtaken New England. These are today’s headlines ...

“Rex’s QB advice for Belichick: PICK HIM! Tebowmania grips New England.” - back page of the New York Post

WELCOME TO THE HOODIE. Belichick already irked as Tebowmania hits New England.” - back page of the Daily News

“Unlike Jets, Patriots May Get Lift From Tebow.” - front page of the Sports Section of the New York Times

Oh, the drama ...

Again ... sorry about the lateness in this posting ...

Yesterday was an excellent walking and wandering day ...

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>5.31 miles (or, 11,613 steps)

Total mileage since 7/1/12==>1,625.65 miles

GO YANKEES!!
