A KID LIKE JAKE==>A-

Tuesday==>It is another nice summer day here in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World, blue skies with puffy clouds, nice breeze and temperature of 79ยบ @ 10:00am.

Billi Pod hopes that all of his loyal and faithful readers and followers out there in the morass known as cyberspace are having a great week ... and ... yes ... he also includes his Worker Bee friends, too.

Your favorite blogger needs to get this posting started because he still has some leftover errands and stuff from yesterday (barf!!) ... so ...

Let’s start with Billi Pod’s report card on last night’s Off Broadway drama ...

A KID LIKE JAKE, about two parents fretting over getting their 4-year-old preschooler into private school and whether he may be gay==>A-

This show has an extremely disturbing story line about conflicting views on how to parent a “gender-confused” 4-year-old boy while attempting to get him enrolled in a top-tier private school.

We never see Jake.

The mother, amazingly played by Carla Gugino, is an attorney who gave up her career to become a stay-at-home Mom. She opens the play angry and it just gets worse as the show develops. Her frustrations lead her to become more and more controlling. Honestly, I didn’t like her character at all and at times felt like bitch-slapping her.

The father, Peter Grosz, is a clinical psychologist and he is more willing to accept the possibility that his son may be "different." Mom totally isn’t.

Although the theme becomes more and more threatening it is also very emotionally involving. My only quibble is the insertion, near the end, of a dream sequence in an apparent attempt to ??? ... I am not sure what.

Bottom line ... if you are in the mood for a well-acted heavy drama then this is the show for you. If not ... Billi Pod recommends that you stay far far away.

The show has received basically favorable reviews but almost all of them have disliked the dream scene.

It is playing at the Claire Tow Theatre at Lincoln Center, has a running time of 1:40, without intermission, and runs through July 14th.

When the show was over I walked back to the apartment and that really felt good.

Tonight’s entertainment event is ...

7:05==>YANKEES/TEXAS @ Yankee Stadium, The House That Greed And Ego Built. (season ticket package)

This is the first game of a 3-game series against The Rangers, who lead the AL West.

On the mound for the Yankees will be Hiroki Kuroda (7-5) vs. the hard throwing youngster Yu Darvish (7-3). Both pitchers are Japanese. It should be a pitcher’s duel.

Moving on ...

The weather for tomorrow’s George Washington Bridge walk is iffy. Please keep your fingers crossed for your favorite blogger.

Speaking of walking ... yesterday was a very good walking day ... should hit the magical 1,700-mile mark sometime today.

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>5.36 miles (or, 11,725 steps)

Total mileage since 7/1/12==>1,695.25 miles

GO YANKEES!!
