Mother Jones - Riffnotes - The Yankees

Friday==>We need to get today’s posting underway because your favorite blogger has an entertainment event scheduled for 1:00pm today ... so ... let’s begin with ...

Billi Pod’s report card on last night’s New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) production of ...

MOTHER JONES AND THE CHILDREN’S CRUSADE - Thousands of footsteps. One believer. “At the turn of the 20th century an aging Mary Harris ‘Mother’ Jones, ‘the most dangerous woman in America,’ is on a tireless crusade for justice as she leads ragged mill children on a march to end child labor==>Totally Enjoyable

This highly informative and emotionally involving musical drama stars Lynne Wintersteller as the crusader Mother Jones and Lizzie Klemperer as Jenny Markem, who becomes Mother Jones’ protégé.

The rest of the cast is stellar especially the children who are playing the downtrodden mill workers who join Mother Jones in a march from Pennsylvania to President Teddy Roosevelt's home in New York.

The recurring theme is: “child labor is bad and the factory owners are making too much money.”

The music and lyrics are excellent and much of the story line is developed musically.

The house was full and the cast received a roaring ovation when the show was over.

Billi Pod says==>see this show if you can.

It is playing at The Pearl Theatre on West 42nd Street, has a running time of 2:00, with intermission, and the remaining performance dates are: Friday, July 25th @ 5:00pm and Saturday, July 26th @ 2:00pm.

Moving on ...

Today’s entertainment event is another (and final, for me) NYMF production ...

1:00==>RIFFNOTES: The Musical - “An original musical revue about six quirky teens in a high school summer enrichment program who go on a journey of personal discovery as they tackle classic books and re-imagine iconic stories through the lens of high school hijinks, social media, and even beloved Broadway musicals.” (NYMF - discounted ticket)

This revue stars a group of talented teens from Prospect Theater Company’s Summer Intensive Training Program.

It is playing at The Pearl Theatre on West 42nd Street and has one remaining performance date: Saturday, July 26th @ 11:00am.

At the moment your favorite blogger has nothing scheduled for this evening. Unless something very interesting shows up on his ticket services he will probably remain in the cozy confines of PHC to watch the YANKEES/TORONTO game.

And, speaking of The Yankees ...

Yesterday, out at Yankee Stadium, The House That Greed and Ego Built, The Yankees (53-48) beat The Rangers (40-62) 4-2, behind an excellent outing from recently acquired Brandon McCarthy.

With this win The Yankees are 6-1 since the All-Star break.

Tonight at 7:05pm, at the stadium, The Yankees begin a 3-game series against Toronto (54-49). The teams are tied for second place in the AL East.

On the mound for The Bronx Bombers will be Hiroki Kuroda (6-6) vs. Mark Buehrle (10-6), who has been struggling of late, going 0-5 in his last 8 starts.

OK, my loyal and faithful readers and followers, it is time to post this and then get ready for my afternoon show ... so ...

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE!!

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>4.48 miles (or, 9,800 steps)

Total mileage for 2014==>794.64 miles (average 3.88 miles per day)

GO YANKEES!!
