Thursday==>It is another great summer day here in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World.
At 10:30am the temperature is 73º, with blue skies, puffy clouds and a nice breeze coming off the Hudson River.
So ... let’s get today’s posting started with Billi Pod’s report on last night’s entertainment event out at Yankee Stadium, The House That Greed and Ego Built ...
The Bronx Bombers (59-54) beat The Tigers (62-49) by a score of 5-1 behind a stellar outing from recently acquired Chris Capuano who, unfortunately, didn’t get the win. Cy Young winner Justin Verlander took the loss. Nice!!
It was a very exciting game to watch. The weather was excellent. I got to The Bronx a bit early and had a nice walk session inside the stadium.
This afternoon @ 1:05pm is the final game of the 4-game series. On the mound for The Yankees will be Shane Greene (2-1) vs. Rick Porcello (13-5) for Detroit.
Of course your favorite blogger will be watching the game.
And ... while we are on baseball ... The Little League Regional Playoffs are also being televised ... meaning ... Billi Pod has plenty of sports on his plate for the upcoming two weeks.
Moving on to tonight’s entertainment event ... the Off Broadway show ...
8:00==>A TEXAS TRILOGY - THE LAST MEETING OF THE KNIGHTS OF THE WHITE MAGNOLIA - “This fraternity of Bradleyville's ‘good ol' boys,’ has long since lost sight of its espoused concern with patriotism and racial purity and has become an excuse for a handful of cronies to share a game of dominoes and a spot of liquid refreshment. Having dwindled steadily in membership, the lodge has found a new recruit from a neighboring town, and his appearance gives the remaining members a chance to resurrect their ancient ‘mystical’ initiation rite.” (Off Broadway - $9.00 TDF ticket)
This is revival of A Texas Trilogy, written by Preston Jones in 1974 and set in the fictional Bradleyville, Texas. It was well-received and reviewed back then.
I have tickets for the other two shows in the trilogy, LU ANN HAMPTON LAVERTY OBERLANDER and THE OLDEST LIVING GRADUATE.
The show is playing in repertory with the other two plays at McAlpin Hall in the West Park Presbyterian Church on West 86th Street, has a running time of 1:30 (I think), without intermission, and the remaining performance dates for this show are: Friday, August 8 @ 8:00; Saturday, August 9 @ 8:00; Wednesday, August 13 @ 8:00.
OK, my loyal and faithful readers and followers ... it is time to post this and then settle in for some baseball ... so ...
Total mileage for 2014==>860.01 miles (average 3.95 miles per day)
GO YANKEES!!
