Wednesday==>I am happy to report to you loyal and faithful readers and followers that your favorite blogger here in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World, had a wonderful time last night with John Scott Reed aka Fabson.
After ending his workday at Facebook NY Scott came over to PHC. It was around 7:00pm. We did some much needed/wanted catching up.
Make no mistake about it==>Scott is totally, and I mean TOTALLY, mentally, physically and emotionally, involved with his job/responsibilities at Facebook and he is loving every minute of it. He loves his job and ... he is happy and that is what is important. And, I am soooooooooooooo happy for him.
After about an hour of face time we headed out to Southern Hospitality, a BBQ restaurant in my ‘hood, for dinner, where we were joined by Scott’s roommate Bernard Lam.
The time together with them was excellent but I have to say, in the name of fair and unbiased reporting, that the food was only marginal. It was quite a letdown from our previous experiences there.
Anyway==>thanks Scott for dinner. It was great being with you and Bernard.
Moving on ...
Today is an entertainment doubleheader, which is why this posting is earlier than usual ... first is a Broadway show still in previews ...
2:00==>WAITING FOR GODOT - “Two wanderers wait by a lonely tree, to meet up with Mr. Godot, who they hope will change their lives for the better. Instead, two eccentric travelers arrive, one man on the end of the other's rope. The results are both funny and dangerous.” (Broadway - complimentary ticket)
Starring in this revival of the Beckett classic are Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Billy Crudup and Shuler Hensley and the advance buzz is very good. It is playing in repertory with Pinter’s NO MAN’S LAND, with the same cast.
I’ll admit to having serious misgivings about the show because every time I have seen Waiting for Godot I have left the theater wondering and asking myself==>WTF was that all about? But ... it showed up on one of my ticket services ... so ... how could I pass up an opportunity to see Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart, with a comp. ticket?
The show is playing at the Cort Theatre (not one of my favorite venues) on West 48th Street, has a running time of 2:30, with intermission, and runs through March 2, 2014.
Then for the evening is an Off Broadway show in my ‘hood ...
8:00==>EVERY DAY A VISITOR - “A comedy set in a Jewish old-age home in the Bronx. The residents are cranky, argumentative about their surroundings and each other. To change their perspective and respect for each other, they each play-act somebody famous, which leads to a renewed vitality, imaginative relationships and plain old- fashioned fun.” (Off Broadway - complimentary ticket)
Yeah, I know ... why did a 79 1/2 year old guy book a show about cranky elderly people set in an old-age home? I honestly have no answer to that question other than it is playing at a theater on my block.
The show is playing at the Theatre Row Complex on West 42nd Street, has a running time of 2:00, with intermission, and runs through December 14th.
OK ... time to post this and then get ready to head out to begin my doubleheader ...
Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>1.74 miles (or, 3,804 steps)
Total mileage since 7/1/13==>436.11 miles (average 3.41 miles per day)
GO GATORS!!
