IL DIVO - A Musical Affair==>A-

Wednesday==>It is a bright, windy and very cold morning here in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World. At 8:30am it was 30º and the wind chill brought it down to 20º. Fortunately, it is supposed to warm up a bit for the remainder of the week.

So, my loyal and faithful readers and followers out there in the morass known as cyberspace, let’s get underway with ...

Billi Pod’s report card on last night’s outstanding entertainment event, the Broadway show ...

IL DIVO - A Musical Affair, the international classical-pop quartet and Broadway star Heather Headley, perform songs from great Broadway musicals==>A-.

El Divo, American tenor David Miller; Swiss tenor Urs Buhler; French pop singer Sebastien Izambard; and, Spanish baritone Carlos Marin, was formed 9 years ago and since then they have toured the world and released multiple top-rated albums.

They are a unique blend of operatic and quasi-operatic voices, singing in several languages. They moved up and down a staircase and grouped and regrouped on several levels, coordinating with impressive lighting effects.

The program featured songs from: West Side Story; Les Miserables; Cats; The Phantom of the Opera; Evita; The Lion King; and, others.

The quartet was joined several times by Broadway star Heather Headley, who sang several duets with them. She also performed “Run To You” from THE BODYGUARD, scheduled for a Broadway run in the upcoming season.

I found this show to be totally enjoyable, pleasant to the ear,  and very entertaining.

My comp. seat was in the very rear of the orchestra, but that was OK. I was seated next to my Facebook friend Daniel Nickle and that was nice.

My only quibbles==>way-too-much useless bantering and needless talking and a really lame encore performance of “My Way.”

Anyway ... if you have a chance, catch the final performance tonight at the cavernous Marquis Theatre at Broadway and 46th Street. The running time is 2:15, with an intermission.

Moving on ...

Tonight’s entertainment event is an Off Broadway show ...

8:00==>BUDDY’S TAVERN - “An Italian-American factory worker on Staten Island in 1956 has always wanted his own business - a bar where he can sing his heart out to his customers. Family pressures, race relations, unexpected love, and the struggle to achieve one's dreams, all come alive in this New York premiere musical.” (Off Broadway - complimentary ticket)

This is a Developmental Lab Presentation at The York Theatre (one of my favorite venues) on East 54th Street and the remaining performance dates are November 14 and 15.

Now ... just a bit of sports from The Gator Nation ...

The countdown to Saturday’s GATORS/SOUTH CAROLINA game from Columbia @ 7:00pm, carried on ESPN2, has begun.

To add to our 2013 season misery/woes, our starting QB Tyler Murphy is day-to-day due to a sprained throwing shoulder. If he is unable to go, we will be forced to turn to redshirt freshman Skyler Mornhinweg (who??).

The Gamecocks are currently favored by 13.5 points.

Folks, make no mistake about it, Coach Spurrier will be seeking revenge for last year’s 44-11 blowout at The Swamp. He will have his team score as many points as possible. It ain’t gonna be pretty.

In anticipation of the soon-to-arrive texts and posts==>Yes, I will remain in the cozy confines of PHC to watch the game.

On this happy note ... will post ...

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>2.27 miles (or, 4,973 steps)

Total mileage since 7/1/13==>460.47 miles (average 3.42 miles per day)

GO GATORS==>FIRE COACH MUSKRAT!!!!!
