Good morning to all of my loyal and faithful readers and followers out there in the morass known as cyberspace.
Let’s get today’s posting started with Billi Pod’s thoughts/observations on last night’s staged reading of ...
HOWLING HILDA, a musical about the Brooklyn Dodgers’ greatest fan==>well-performed, interesting and entertaining.
It is a one-woman show and the performer, Mary Testa, did an excellent job as the Dodger-obsessed fan, who, unfortunately, was in total denial about the possibility of the Dodger’s leaving Brooklyn for LA.
The press blurb commented that it isn’t necessary to be a baseball fan to enjoy the show, but, honestly, I think it will be a hard-sell to the non-baseball crowd with no knowledge of what was happening back in 1957 and who the players were.
I saw this with my theater buddies Dian Crystal aka My Lady and Vera Olichney.
Moving on ...
Today will be another entertainment doubleheader for Billi Pod ... beginning with ...
2:00==>STRIKE UP THE BAND - “A revival of the 1927 musical that satirizes America's taste for war. America declares war on Switzerland over a trivial trade issue involving cheese.” (Off Broadway - $9.00 TDF ticket)
This work was the result of collaboration between George S. Kaufman and George & Ira Gershwin. It is playing in a theatre on my block.
Then for the evening is ...
7:30==>NEW YORK PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA @ Avery Fisher Hall - The program is: Bach’s Mass in B Minor

The orchestra will be joined by the New York Choral Artists Chorus.
