Billi Pod Is Pissed Off!! FuckSox Do It Again!!

OK ... gotta admit it ... Billi Pod woke up in a funk and still pissed-off over the YANKEES/FUCKSOX series. We were leading 2-1 going into the bottom of the 9th and in comes Mariano Rivera, the best closer in the history of baseball, and==> he blows the save. WTF!!

Barf! The game is tied 2-2. We go down (pun probably intended) meekly in the top of the 10th and Phil Hughes comes in. A ground-rule double, an out and then a single and the FuckSox win 3-2. It was 12:26am. The Yankees choked. Billi Pod was majorly pissed!!

Folks, they own us this season, make no mistake about it ... they do. Our record against them is, gasp ... 2-10. WTF!!

Can we beat them in the post season? I honestly don’t know. They are the better team thus far in the season, as signified by this series when they beat our ace CC Sabathia and then our closer Mo.

<==Basically, this is what they did to us up at Fenway and it hurts.

Billi Pod Is Pissed Off!!

Well, on to other things and stuff ... like ...

Billi Pod’s report card on ...

CHAOTICALLY COMPLETE COLLABORATION FESTIVAL==>it was a lot of fun. The 8 short plays zipped along and the cast/crew was extremely talented. It was a nice way to spend an afternoon.

As I am writing this on Monday afternoon I have pretty much completed my errands, chores and stuff, Thank God!!

Still Pissed Off!!

The Yankees have the night off, Thank God. Nothing scheduled entertainment-wise. Probably catch a movie. Nice day out weather-wise so it may be a walk-and-wander evening.

It is a very full schedule, isn’t it?

OK, this posting has gone on long enough so ...

Oh, before I forget==>did I mention that I am still PISSED OFF?

My Daily Report and Then Billi Pod Asks?????

I will start off my daily report to you loyal and faithful readers out there in the vastness of cyberspace with Billi Pod’s report card on ...

SUMMER SHORTS 5 - Series A==>A<==the 4 one-act plays were interesting and diverse. Acting in each was excellent.

The most thought-provoking and funny was the last one called “The New Testament,” written by Neil LaBute, about a meeting between the playwright, the producer, and an asian actor who the playwright believes has been accidentally miscast in the role of Jesus.

I am looking forward to seeing Series B later in the month.

When the show was over I decided to walk back to PHC, a distance of just over 2 miles, while listening to the YANKEES/FUCKSOX game on my trusty Walkman.

Man, the Midtown area was teeming with hordes of tourists and Billi Pod couldn’t escape them.

What he also wishes he could escape is the memory of the game because ...

Yes, as you loyal and faithful reader know, we got our butts kicked at Fenway, losing to the FUCKSOX 10-4. CC just didn’t have it. It hurts ... it hurts bad.

Yep, we are now 2-9 this season against The FuckSox. Barf!!

After the game Billi Pod wasn’t in the mood to go out, especially since he was alternating between sucking his thumb and giving The Baseball Gods the finger. What did he do, you are no doubt breathlessly asking? Well ...

He watched “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby,” starring Will Ferrell, on Comedy Central. Yeah ... I know ... but for some reason I had never seen this and I really like Will Ferrell, so ... this is what Billi Pod did.

I guess most everyone out there has seen the movie, but if you haven’t and need a gut-busting fun time==>see it<==a mix of satire, clever gags, and excellent ensemble performances.

Billi Pod's entertainment schedule for today is ...

3:00==>CHAOTICALLY COMPLETE COLLABORATION FESTIVAL - “8 ten minutes plays presented with only 48 hours of preparation - watch the madness unfold.” (Off Broadway - complimentary ticket)

This is playing at a theater on my block. Sounds like fun.

Then tonight Billi Pod will stay in to watch ...

8:00==>YANKEES/FUCKSOX on ESPN with Freddy Garcia vs. Josh Beckett. Since it is an ESPN game it will last forever and ever. And, Yankee/FuckSox games routinely take forever, too.

Come on Yankees - man up! We really need this game.

In closing==>my thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the brave troops who lost their lives yesterday when their helicopter was shot down in Afghanistan. This is a reminder, if we needed one, that brave young men and women put their lives in harms way day-after-day in a mission to preserve and protect our country.

But, don’t we have to ask ourselves and those in power who make the decisions==>are we truly better off? Are we really any safer and secure? Is it worth the continued loss of lives over there? Is it?

I ask - you decide.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!

Billi Pod Says==>Take That FuckSox Scumbags!!

What made last night’s 3-2 win over the BOSTON FUCKSOX so enjoyable is that up until this game the FuckSox had owned The Yankees, compiling an 8-1 record against The Bronx Bombers.

While most pundits agree that both The Yankees and the FuckSox will make the post-season in truth-and-fact Yankee egos (certainly including Billi Pod’s) had been sorely bruised by the team’s ineptitude against the FuckSox. Quite frankly, we were embarrassed, to put it mildly.

Well, as you know, the Yankees beat the FuckSox 3-2 as the bullpen held on and Mariano came in to get the save, striking out the last two batters. We now have the lead in the AL East and have won 8 in a row.

Yes, it was worth staying in PHC on a Friday night in The Big Apple, The Greatest City in The World, to watch the game and to witness what, hopefully, will be be a turning of the tide in the rest of the Yankee/FuckSox season.

On to some other random stuff ...

Thanks you loyal and faithful readers out there in the vast wilderness known as cyberspace for all of the supportive texts, emails and posts regarding Billi Pod’s vendetta against ghostlight2 for his snarky attack on Billi Pod’s credibility as a fair and impartial reporter and thusly on the very core premise of Billi Pod Blogs.

But, to Her Druidness==>sorry SGM but Billi Pod can’t “get over it” until his honor and integrity is restored and that can only be accomplished by the evisceration of ghostlight2.

Sorry ... so just get over it ...

Today’s entertainment schedule is ...

2:15==>SUMMER SHORTS 5 - Series A - “The acclaimed series of new American one-act plays by some of the country’s top playwriting talent. Four world premier one-act plays.” (Off Broadway - $9.00 TDF ticket)

This is playing at the 59 E. 59th Theater, one of my favorite venues.

Then ...

4:10==>YANKEES vs. BOSTON FUCKSOX @ Fenway Park. This is the second game of the series and our ace CC Sabathia will be on the mound.

The game should be over around 7:00pm so Billi Pod will probably catch a movie. At this point he is not certain which one. With two movie theaters within 1 1/2 blocks of PHC he has the option of 23 current movies. Not bad.

GO YANKEES AND GO GATORS!!

Naked Boys Singing & The Wrath Of Billi Pod!!

First of all, Billi Pod is happy to report to you loyal and faithful readers that after yesterday’s posting something interesting came up on one of his ticket services. What, you are no doubt breathlessly asking? Well it was ... tada ...

7:00==>NAKED BOYS SINGING - “The adorable cast of 8 "hunks" display their "special charms" as they celebrate the splendors of male nudity through comedy, sixteen songs and some dancing.” (Off Broadway - complimentary ticket)

How could I pass this up? A comp. ticket. No way. Seen them several times and always fun ... so ... this was my entertainment event for last night and I am happy to give Billi Pod’s report card ...

NAKED BOYS SINGING==>H<==for hung full of fun as talented boyz swing it back and forth for 75 minutes. As the story line dictates, they let it all hang out, with no holds barred. They lived up to their theatre endowments and packed a punch.

Now on to something else ...

Let me share something different with you longtime loyal and faithful readers ... this time about writing a blog. As you no doubt remember, Tuesday I posted a very very negative review of TRICKS THE DEVIL TAUGHT ME. I didn’t pull any punches. Billi Pod hated it.

Well a couple of days later someone posted the entirety of my review on the theater-related website

http://broadwayworld.com/board/

and as a result my page views for that posting increased dramatically and that was nice. It did, however, generate a very snarky response from an asshole named “ghostlight2” who had the audacity to opine ...

“Why do I care about the opinion of someone who speaks of themselves in their own blog in the third person?”

WTF!!

Sir or Madam, while you are entitled to express your opinion on any topic, no one ridicules Billi Pod on the internet without suffering the direst of consequences.

Beware Sir or Madam of The Wrath of Billi Pod==>Billi Pod’s people are now after your ass.

Prepare ghostlight2 to meet your maker. You can run but you cannot hide. You will be found.

Anyway ... on to other more pleasant things, like ...

Last night the Yankees swept the White Sox behind yet another outstanding performance from Ivan Nova (now 10-4). How can management even consider sending Nova back to the minors and keeping AJ Burnett aka Loser Boi in the rotation??? Jus askin’...

Tonight-7:05pm==>YANKEES vs. BOSTON FUCKSOX @ the ancient and fetid cesspool known as Fenway Park.

We are tied for first place in the AL East. Bartolo Colon will be on the mound for The Yankees.

Billi Pod will stay in and watch the game even though it is a Friday night in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World.

BEWARE==>ghostlight2<== you are soon-to-be smelly dead meat.

Great Time With John Scott Reed and AJ Burnett Still Sucks!!

Had a great time last night with John Scott Reed. He came over to PHC after work and his gym-fix and we did a lot of catching up.

He shared with me the details of his Britney Spears concert with the surprise birthday tickets from some of his gal-pals. And, it was a total 110% surprise. Actually, Billi Pod also participated in the scheme.

How, you are no doubt breathlessly asking? Well his gal-pals were concerned that Scott might schedule something else for that evening, so they contacted me. I knew what to do. I sent Scott an email inviting him to join me and my grandson, Chris, who was to be in town just overnight, for dinner at Angus McIndoe.

It had a “you-gotta-do-this” tone. He accepted my invitation, so the date was fixed in stone because Scott knew that he dare not face the wrath of Billi Pod by canceling. Done! Of course, the dinner scheme was a total fabrication. Gottcha.

He said the concert was outstanding and he had a wonderful time with his friends. Awesome!

We had a late dinner at Southern Hospitality, a terrific BBQ restaurant in my ‘hood. Tons and tons of food. Lots of leftovers. A very nice evening.

Side note==>still haven’t been to his apartment out in the wilderness known as Brooklyn. Hint hint.

Because of the dinner plans with Scott, Billi Pod didn't get to watch game 3 of the YANKEES/WHITESOX series with AJ Burnett aka Loser Boi on the mound for The Bronx Bombers. Thank God I didn’t because ...

Loser Boi imploded yet again, giving up 7 runs on 13 hits in just 4 1/3 innings. He couldn’t hold on to a 12 run lead. Barf! However, The Yankees won 18-7.

The headlines in today’s papers pretty much sums it up --

“EVEN UP BY 12, A.J. CAN’T WIN - Fails to go five as Yanks romp” - Daily News

“BOMBERS BAIL OUT AWFUL A.J. - Yanks score 18, and Burnett still can’t get win” - NY Post

“Yankees Rise Above Burnett’s Shortcomings to Rout White Sox” - NY Times

AJ==>YOU ARE A F**KING LOSER AND YOU STILL SUCK!!

What are the Yankees to do with this pile of dog-dung? Because of the magnitude of his contract he can’t be traded and he certainly can’t be sent to the bullpen? What?? Sit him on the bench and take up a roster-spot? What??

To add to the Yankee’s concerns==>A-Rod may be in deep s**t for his “alleged” participation in underground poker games. In 2005 he was warned about gambling. Thanks A-Rod, just what we need.

Anyway, game 4 of the Whitesox series is tonight with Ivan Nova on the mound for The Yanks. This weekend The Yankees go to Boston for a 3-game series against The FuckSox. Billi Pod’s weekend entertainment schedule will revolve around watching each game.

So far nothing of interest has shown up on my ticket services for today, so it looks like it will be a movie day, probably CRAZY, STUPID, LOVE with Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling.

BREAKING NEWS==>Congratulations to my FaceBook friend David Lee, who recently moved to The Big Apple from Orlando, FL. David will be directing a staged reading of the new Eddie Sanchez play "La Bella Familia" at The Atlantic Theatre Company on August 28th!! Way to go David!!

Billi Pod’s Report Card On TRICKS THE DEVIL TAUGHT ME==>BARF!!

Yes, I know that I just posted my awesome July 2011 entertainment stats and that you loyal and faithful readers out there in the vast hinterlands are still mentally processing their awesomeness, but ... folks ... Billi Pod has more things and stuff to share with you ... like ...

His report card on TRICKS THE DEVIL TAUGHT ME==>F-<==this was every bit as terrible as my theater-nut friends had said, and then some. It is puke-inducingly bad. Barf and double-barf!!

It has every southern/western cliché imaginable shouted by unlikeable and unbelievable characters. Profanity is spewed nonstop from almost all of the female characters. The story line, if there is one, is incomprehensible.

Billi Pod fled in abject horror at intermission. He would have left sooner but his seat was in the second row, dead center, so he was trapped. When he left he joined a stream of like-minded audience members heading out of the theater.

So folks in the metropolitan New York area - stay far away from this piece of egomaniacal [egomaniacal because the playwright is also the director] dog crap==>it is puke inducing!!

The evening was saved, thankfully, by a nice walk back to PHC. The barf-event was down in The Village so I walked up 7th Avenue to 41st Street and then over to PHC, a distance of about 2.5 miles.

As I was walking back I was listening to the YANKEES/WHITESOX game on my trusty but now aged Walkman.

Phil Hughes had an excellent outing in a rain-delayed and then rain-shortened game. The Yankees won 6-0. Phil went a long way to regaining his place in the starting rotation.

Tonight I will meet up with John Scott Reed and we will have a late dinner at someplace in my ‘hood.

Scott attended the Brintney Spears concert last night at the Nassau Coliseum, on Long Island, with a ticket that was a surprise early-birthday gift from some of his gal-pals. Nice!! I am anxiously looking forward to the details.

Billi Pod’s July Stats Reached A New Level of Awesomeness, IMHO.

Well my loyal and faithful readers out there in the vast wilderness known as cyberspace, the entertainment stats for the month of July have been compiled and, in my humble opinion, they reached a new level of awesomeness.

Yes ... yes ... I know ... I use the word “awesome” way way too much, but the word truly reflects the magnitude of Billi Pod’s activities for the month IMHO ... so ...

Here they are for your consideration and review ... but remember ...

I just report - you decide ...

In checking my daily log (log, not diary - real guys don’t keep diaries) I find that during the month of July 2011 Billi Pod attended/saw/did the following:

1 Broadway show (Chicago); 21 [yes, that is the correct number - I double-checked it] Off Broadway shows; 2 classical music concerts; 1 rock music concert (Sir Paul McCartney @ Yankee Stadium); 3 Movies (Tree of Life; Horrible Bosses; and, Larry Crowne); and, 7 Yankee games, including Jeter’s 3000th hit game (5 wins and 2 losses).

The highlights of the month were the Sir Paul McCartney concert, which I attended with John Scott Reed, and being present at Yankee Stadium, The House That Greed and Ego Built, on Saturday, July 9th when Derek Jeter hit a home run to reach the historic 3,000 hit plateau.

Billi Pod was also able to have face time with Gordon and Carole Warner of Tavares, FL and with some of his AA buddies (you know who you are).

July also marked the 13th year since I lost my dear friend Bill “Moon” Mullon of Anna Maria, FL. He is still missed.

I think the most awesome of all of the stats is the fact that during the month Billi Pod went to some entertainment event every single day/night and, also, he had 5 entertainment doubleheaders.

All of the above happened despite nasty weather and a blistering heat wave at the end of the month.

Yes, friends, family and other loyal and faithful readers, these entertainment stats personify why this 77 year-old retiree, an expatriate and reverse snowbird from the deep South, who is known as Billi Pod, still lives in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World.

A new level? Well, it’s up to you to decide ... so ... have at it ...

Some Downtime & Univ. of Florida Makes Another Top Ten List

Well, my loyal and faithful readers, yesterday was the usual errands and stuff day and that was about it for Billi Pod.

What am I talking about you are no doubt breathlessly asking out there in the vastness of cyberspace ... WTF does he mean by ... “that was about it”...?

Well, what he means is that nothing showed up on any of his ticket services so he opted to stay in and watch the 8:00pm YANKEES/WHITE SOX game.

Yep, Billi Pod admits, in the name of fair and unbiased reporting, that he felt he needed a bit of “downtime” following his weekend double-doubleheader, so he spent the evening in front of the tube.

In doing so he broke a string of 41 consecutive days/nights of attending some entertainment event. Yes, even Billi Pod needs an occasional bit of “downtime” to rest, recharge and refuel, so don’t judge him, OK?

It was a very exciting game. The Yankees won 3-2 with a journeyman outing by our ace CC Sabathia, who won his 16th game even though he wasn’t as sharp as he had been in the last several starts.

The FuckSox lost so we are only 1 game behind in the AL East.

Tonight is game 2 of the 4 game series against The White Sox with Phil Hughes on the mound. If Hughes doesn’t have a better outing than his last two games he will probably (rightfully) lose his spot in the rotation to Ivan Nova.

Tonight’s entertainment event is ...

7:00==>TRICKS THE DEVIL TAUGHT ME - “A contemporary drama set in the fiery confines of West Texas where once invisible imperfections begin to poison the air. Right and wrong are swept up in a whirlwind of lies, hope, and haunting memories.” (Off Broadway - complimentary ticket)

I have serious misgivings about this show, in previews, because every one of my theatre-nut friends who have seen it have HATED IT!! We will see.

BREAKING NEWS==>The Princeton Review’s 2011 list of the nation’s top party schools has just been released and Billi Pod is happy to report that The University of Florida ranks #9.

Here is the list of the Top Ten:

1. Ohio University, Athens, Ohio

2. University of Georgia, Athens, Ga.

3. University of Mississippi, Oxford, Miss.

4. University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa

5. University of California Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara, Calif.

6. West Virginia University, Morgantown, W. Va.

7. Penn State University, University Park, Pa.

8. Florida State University, Tallahassee, Fla.

Note that the SEC has 3 schools in the Top Ten.

Billi Pod Does Another Doubleheader==>Terrific!!

Billi Pod is happy to report to you loyal and faithful readers out there in the vast wilderness and hinterlands that yesterday’s doubleheader was terrific, ending the weekend’s double-doubleheader on a very positive note.

First==>The Yankees beat the Orioles 4-2 behind yet another good outing from Freddy Garcia. Where would we be without Bartolo and Freddy?

The weather was nice the entire game, for a change.

Now, in the name of fair and unbiased reporting Billi Pod has to admit that what he is about to discuss next will have absolutely no meaning/interest unless you are a dyed-in-the wool Yankee fan, so ... if you want to scroll down ... have at it ... or ... read on ... it’s up to you ...

Here goes==>as you know, A-Rod has been out of the lineup due to a leg injury. Yesterday Girardi opted to give our second baseman, Robinson Cano, a half-day off by making him the designated hitter (DH). Well, in the 3rd inning The Captain, Derek Jeter, was hit on his right hand by a pitch and had to leave the game.

So, this meant that the Yankee infield in the middle of the game was:

lst base - Mark Teixeira

2nd base - Francisco Cervilli (normally a backup catcher)

Shortstop - Eduardo Nunez (who?)

3rd base - Eric Chavez (who?)

Yankee fans - at the beginning of the season no one, and I mean no one, in their wildest hallucinating dreams would have imagined a Yankee infield lineup like this ... no one ... and yet ... we still won the game.

The good news, nothing is broken so Jeter will be back in a couple of days.

As Billi Pod predicted, the Yankees made no trades, opting to stick with what they had rather than trade away top prospects. I totally agree with this decision.

On the way back from the game Billi Pod got off the subway at Columbus Circle and walked the rest of the way back to PHC, a mile.

Had time to shower, have the usual fruit and cheese plate and then it was time to head over to Midtown East for part two of the doubleheader ...

THE MAD SHOW @ York Theatre Musicals in Mufti Series. Billi Pod was in the mood for something funny and this show was spot-on. It was gut-busting funny even though some of the humor was very dated since it is set in 1966.

This was the final performance and the house was full and everyone seemed to be having a great time.

They really do nice work at the York Theatre, so a big thumbs up to my FaceBook friend Jim Morgan, who is their Artistic Director (and also a Florida Gator).

When I got back to PHC after the show I have to admit that I was just a bit tired. It had been a terrific day for Billi Pod in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World.

Two doubleheaders back to back, in my humble opinion==>F**KING AWESOME!!

But, it is up to you to decided because ...

I report - you decide

As you loyal and faithful readers know, Monday is Billi Pod’s errands and to-do day.

Nothing has shown up on any of his theater services for today so he will probably catch a movie==>CRAZY, STUPID, LOVE with Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling.

Have already compiled the stats for the month of July and will post them later. They are pretty awesome, too, but then you loyal and faithful readers already knew that, didn’t you?

To John Scott Reed aka Fabson==>WE GOTTCHA, BUT IN A NICE WAY!!
