Tuesday==>Your favorite blogger has things and stuff left over from yesterday’s errands and chores list ... so ... we need to get today’s posting started with ...
Billi Pod’s report card on last night’s entertainment event ...
The Broadway show ...
THE HEIDI CHRONICLES, follows 19 characters through 13 scenes in three decades and four cities, as three unlikely friends come to realize that the fight for what you believe in can bring you a long way==>A
This Broadway revival of Wendy Wasserstein’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play still packs a punch as it reminds us that the battle for women's rights/equality is not over, even today. Yes, even though the show is set in the past, it very much resonates in today’s world.
This drama, with a bit of comedy, is entertaining, thought-provoking and emotionally involving.
The characters are well-developed and you end up basically caring about each one.
The cast is superb, lead by Elisabeth Moss in the difficult role of Heidi. IMHO, Bryce Pinkham as Peter, the gay doctor, gives an award-worthy performance. Jason Biggs holds his own as Scoop, who remains in unrequited love with Heidi for over 25 years.
This was the first public performance and the production is in excellent shape. The sets and projections are stellar.
I have two very minor quibbles with the production: (1) it is 10-15 minutes too long, and (2) there are 13 scenes spanning 24+ years and there needs to be a projection showing the year in which the scene is taking place.
Billi Pod says==>get thee to the Music Box to see this show, ASAP.
It is playing at the Music Box Theatre on West 45th Street, has a running time of 2:35, including intermission, and runs through August 9th.
Now ... I have to admit that some of the pleasure in seeing this outstanding play was taken away during the painful walk from the theater back to my apartment building. Yeah ... at 11:00pm it was 5º but the wind chill had it down to a painful and dangerous -9º. I think this was the coldest Billi Pod had been all Winter.
Winter==>will you please please go away ... Billi Pod is more than over with you ... so ... please please please go the fuck away.
Moving on ...
Tonight’s entertainment event is a concert at Lincoln Center ...
(classical music concert - full price ticket)
According to the press information - “Celebrate the Year of the Sheep with Yo-Yo Ma, the Philharmonic, and music from East to West, including the U.S. Premiere of Zhao Lin’s Duo - a concerto for cello and sheng, a Chinese woodwind instrument with 17 bamboo pipes.”
Yeah ... this certainly sounds different and also interesting. I am a big Yo-Yo Ma fan so I am really looking forward to this.
Now ... on the sport’s scene ...
Well, the drama has begun down in Tampa as A-Rod showed up unannounced at the spring training camp, two day’s early. This basically pissed off Yankee brass and generated the following headlines in today’s papers ...
EARLY BIRD IS A WORM. Surprise! A-Rod springs up. Yanks rage at star’s circus.

LET THE MADNESS BEGIN! A-Rod ticks off Yanks in record time by arriving without notice, two days early.

BIG CHILL. A-Rod reports, gets frosty reception from Yankees’ brass.

and, in The Gray Lady ...
IN WITH THE OLD. Rodriguez Arrives And Addresses A Familiar Topic.
front page of sports section of The New York Times.
Man, A-Rod’s PR guy must really be into S&M. This was insane.
Oh well ...
Time to post this and then brave the elements to go across the street to the Food Emporium to stock up and take advantage of their additional 5% Senior Discount.
In closing ... it has warmed up a bit. Yep ... at noon it is 15º, but without a wind chill factor.
Total mileage for 2015==>220.81 miles (average 4.09 miles per day)
