Weather Report/A CONVERSATION WITH SHELDON HARNICK/THE PAJAMA MEN/Happy Birthday Ginger Flowers

Tuesday==>Yes, my loyal and faithful readers and followers, the freezing weather continues up here in the frigid Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World.

At 9:00am this morning it was 18º, wind chill , with deceptively beautiful azure blue skies. And, it is forecast to continue like this for the remainder of the week, with a high probability for snow on Thursday and Sunday. Barf!!

Oh, well ... moving on ...

In yesterday’s posting I reported that I hadn’t scheduled anything for the evening, but that you loyal and faithful readers and followers were not to fret because your favorite blogger had several options, including finally seeing the Leonardo DiCaprio movie THE WOLF OF WALL STREET.

Well, I just wasn’t in the mood for 3-hours of cussing, screaming, booze and drugs, so, instead I opted for ...

7:30==>A CONVERSATION WITH SHELDON HARNICK @ The York Theatre - “Artistic Director James Morgan interviews the 89-yr. old Broadway musical legend.” (discounted TDF ticket)

Harnick, a lyricist, who turns 90 on April 30th, is best known for his collaborations with composer Jerry Bock on the mega-hit musical “Fiddler of the Roof” and the Pulitzer prize winning “Fiorello.”

This was a very interesting and entertaining event and, of course, highly informative as Harnick shared his recollections of the highs and lows of his career, laced with humor and insider stories.

The house was full and everyone was totally focused on the stage and the 2:20, with intermission, running time flew by.

So glad I decided to see it.

As an additional positive note, before the show I went to the post office located at 54th and 3rd Avenue and was able to get some Flat Rate Priority Mail envelopes. Yeah ... oh ... don’t understand? Read yesterday’s blog posting.

So, let’s move on to today ...

Tonight’s scheduled entertainment event will be an Off Broadway show downtown ...

7:30==>THE PAJAMA MEN: Just the Two of Each of Us - “The Pajama Men (Shenoah Allen and Mark Chavez) are odd birds. This Albuquerque sketch duo brings surreal theatrics, physical bits and improvisation to narrative storytelling, with weird characters, including: Joan (who would eat a spider to fit in with the cool kids); Nadine (whose arm is missing and she wants it back); Franz (whose biggest problem is life is too easy); and, a procrastinating King (who has only 700 years to get himself together because if he doesn’t it’s certain death for everyone).” (Off Broadway - discounted TDF ticket)

This comic duo received rave reviews in London and just finished a month long residency at the Woolly Mammoth Theatre in Washington, DC.

The show in playing at Subculture at 45 Bleecker Street, in the East Village, has a running time of 1:10, without intermission, and runs through February 23.

I will close this posting with ...

A major shout-out to Ginger Flowers, who lives in Atlanta, GA, and is celebrating her 78th birthday today (yeah, I got her permission to give the year).

Ginger has lived in Atlanta longer than I care to remember. She is a retired Eastern Airline flight attendant.

Our friendship spans decades, beginning back when we dated in high school (Summerlin Institute), in Bartow, FL. We have maintained that close relationship to this day.

She has had some major health issues. I talked with her this morning and I am happy to report that she is at home, in good spirits and living her life in a positive manner, one day at a time.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GINGER - Love ya lots and lots!!

So ...

STAY WARM EVERYONE!!

Oh ... yesterday was an excellent walking day ...

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>5.11 miles (or, 11,182 steps)

Total mileage for 2014==>122.53 miles (average 2.99 miles per day)
