Tuesday==>OK ... on this gray, overcast and cold morning in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World, let’s get this posting started by giving a HAPPY BIRTHDAY shout-out to SANDY MULLON of Anna Maria, FL (yes, I know she now lives inland ... but she will always be an Island Girl to Billi Pod).
Hopefully Sandy will be able to schedule another trip up here when it warms up.
BREAKING NEWS==>The University of Florida basketball team (18-2) is now ranked #2 in both the AP and the USA Today polls.
Yes, I know that there is still a long way to go before the Final Four are determined, but thus far in the season the Gators have exceeded everyone’s expectations. BillyBall still works.
And ... while we are talking sports (yes, this is for you Marty) ... the A-Rod drama continues to get murkier and murkier. These the headlines on both the front and back pages of today’s Daily News ...
“AFRAID. Paranoid Alex: Yankees, MLB have it out for me.” front page of the Daily News.
“PARA-ROID. Madden: A-Rod’s claim that Yanks are out to get him proves he’s a desperate man.” back page of the Daily News
And ... in all three daily papers the coverage's all make the same point ... instead of shouting out that the latest drug allegations are untrue, A-Rod, who "reportedly" believes there is a “conspiracy” against him, chooses to remain silent, hiding behind lawyers and crisis managers ... WHY?? Jus askin' ...
Anyway ... you are welcome, Marty ... so ... let’s move on to Billi Pod’s report card on last night’s entertainment event ...
GET ME A GUY, the one-act comedy about women who chase the wrong men who chase the wrong women==>B+
It has mostly funny pieces with excellent acting, with only a 45-minute running time.
The small space was filled with a very supportive audience and everyone seemed to be enjoying the show. Obviously I did.
This show is part of the Midwinter Madness Short Play Festival and the remaining performances are Thursday @ 8:00pm and Saturday @ 4:00pm
Billi Pod says==>definitely worth seeing.
While waiting for the house to open I met one of the male actors, Ben Kaufman, who introduced me to the young Director, Christopher Diercksen, who looks to be barely out of Junior High School. He laughed when I told him that.
When the show was over it was just a few minutes after 8:00pm and I briefly considered catching a movie, but instead, I came back to the warm and cozy confines of PHC and spent the rest of the evening working on the January 2013 entertainment stats report draft.
I am happy to report to all of my loyal and faithful readers and followers that this much anticipated report will be posted later today ... so stay tuned ...
Moving on to tonight’s entertainment event ...
7:30==>THE DANCE AND THE RAILROAD - “On a California mountaintop in 1867 near the Transcontinental Railroad, two Chinese workers struggle through poverty and hunger to reconnect with the traditions of their homeland.” (Off Broadway - full price ticket)
This is the first regular performance and is part of the David Henry Hwang residency series at the new Signature Theatre located 1/2 block West of my apartment. Tickets for the entire scheduled run are only $25. If the show is extended then the ticket price will substantially increase for the extension.
OK, my loyal and faithful readers and followers ... time to post this and then finish up the January entertainment stats posting ... so ...
Oh ... yes ... in response to several emails and texts ... my daily walking mileage is severely down since I reached my 1,079 miles plateau back on January 26th.
Frankly, in the name of fair and unbiased reporting, it is a combination of bad weather and an inner desire to return to my usual program of getting from point A to point B in the quickest time involving the shortest distance(s).
Never fear, however, because I am pretty confident that when it warms up Billi Pod will be back to his 4+ miles per day average.
Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>1.77 miles (or, 3,871 steps)
Total mileage since 7/1/12==>1,113.40 miles
GO GATORS AND GO YANKEES!!
