A Sunday Doubleheader - The Gators & The Yankees

Sunday==>It is a beautiful day here in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World.

Yes, we have azure blue skies, a few puffy clouds, a steady breeze coming off the Hudson River and at 11:00am the temperature is 62º with the projected high to be only 70º.

Your favorite blogger is back in his frenetic entertainment mode because he has an entertainment doubleheader scheduled for today ...

First will be an Off Broadway drama ...

3:00==>ALMOST HOME - “It’s the turbulent sixties, and a young Marine returns home to the Bronx, shaken but hopeful for the future. Met by a mother fighting to keep the family going and a father down on his luck, Johnny finds himself caught between his parents’ dreams for his future and a police captain with plans of his own.” (Off Broadway - complimentary ticket)

This drama is playing at The Theatre Row Complex on my West 42nd Street block, has a running time of 1:30, without intermission, and runs through October 12th.

Then for evening it will be a comedy ...

7:15==>BOYS AND GIRLS - “This comedy follows four characters across a single night; two get lucky, two don't. Emerging from the Irish spoken word scene, this play paints the Dublin nightscape in pyrotechnic verse; four intercut voices muse, tease, and rant in an ever-escalating rhythm.” (Off Broadway - complimentary ticket)

This show is playing at the 59E59 Theatre Complex (one of my favorite venues) on East 59th Street, has a running time of only :50, without intermission, and runs through September 28th. It is part of the Irish Festival at this venue.

When this show is over I will walk back to the apartment, weather permitting, of course.

Yeah ... it looks like a pretty interesting doubleheader.

Now ... what about yesterday I know many of you are asking your inner selves ... well ... inner selves ... as I posted yesterday ... Saturday Billi Pod spent the entire day/evening in front of his 42” flat screen TV watching sports - baseball and college football.

The Yankees (76-71) kept their playoff hopes barely alive by beating The Orioles (88-60), in Baltimore, by a score of 3-2 on another excellent outing from rookie pitcher Shane Greene.

Tonight at 8:00pm is the final game of the series. On the mound for The Yankees will be Hiroki Kuroda (10-9) vs. Chris Tillman (12-5) for The Birds.

On Monday The Yankees start a 3-game series at Tampa Bay.

Now ... about last night’s Gator game ... as most of you know, The Gators won a 3-overtime thriller over Kentucky by a score of 36-30 on a 1-yard plunge by Matt Jones. We had been favored by 18 points.

Well ... as “they” say ... a win is a win.

Next Saturday we will play ‘Bama at Tuscaloosa and I know The Crimson Tide will be highly favored.

Man ... the Georgia/South Carolina game was really exciting as The Gamecocks pulled a major upset, winning 38-35 over the #6 ranked DawgsWay to go Cocks!

So ... my loyal and faithful readers and followers ... it is time to post this and then do a bit more cleaning to bring PHC back into shape following yesterday’s visit from the exterminator to address the “cootie” issue resulting from a visit from a now unnamed female (to protect her privacy) from Anna Maria, FL.

Oh ... yesterday was one of the least-active days of 2014 as you can see from the walking stats below ...

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>0.91 miles (or, 1,988 steps)

Total mileage for 2014==>1,048.39 miles (average 4.10 miles per day)

GO GATORS!! GO YANKEES!!
