Friday==>New York City, The Greatest City In The World, is in the throes of a major heat wave. It has been in the upper 90s for the past several days and the projection is for more of the same for today and through the weekend.
The heat index (“feels-like”) is in the low 100s and, trust this former Floridian on this ... it is really really unpleasant. The sun reflecting off of the streets and sidewalks drives up the heat and humidity to such a point that I have had the AC on virtually full-time and have avoided going outside except when absolutely necessary.
As of 12:30pm it is 95º with the “feels-like” @ 105º and there is an “Excessive Heat Warning” in effect until 8:00pm.
On this happy note, let’s get started with Billi Pod’s report card on yesterday’s New York Musical Festival (NYMF) show ...
THE PIRATES OF FINANCE, when musical conductor Frederick Freemarket inherits his uncle's twelve billion dollar Wall Street investment company, what could possibly go wrong?==>THUMBS UP!!
An outstanding cast performs songs taken from 8 Gilbert & Sullivan operettas (The Pirates of Finance/The Pirates of Penzance - get it??), with new up-dated lyrics, of course. Totally fun.
As I said, the large cast is great, headed by Preston Ellis as Frederick Freemarket, Jacob Thompson as the nerdy Bill Brilliant and Christopher DeAngelis as the despotic J. Geoffry Behemoth.
The final performance is Saturday @ 9:00pm, so catch it if you can.
When the show was over I came back to PHC, soaking in sweat after having only walked one block. I decided that I would stay in for the remainder of day/evening and basically chill, and that is just what your favorite blogger did.
What about my plans for today I know you are all breathlessly asking your inner selves? Well ... selves ... right now I plan to catch an afternoon movie ...
THE WAY WAY BACK - “14-year-old Duncan’s summer vacation is with his mother, her overbearing boyfriend, and his daughter. Having a rough time fitting in, Duncan finds an unexpected friend in Owen, manager of the Water Wizz water park.”
Then for the evening, as I revealed in yesterday’s posting, your favorite blogger will be in front of the tube watching game 1 of the 3-game YANKEES/BOSTON FUCKSOX series @ 7:05pm from that fetid cesspool known as Fenway Park.
On the mound for The Yankees will be Andy Pettitte (7-6) vs. Felix Doubront (6-3) for The FuckSox.
The A-Rod drama continues, with his return date still up in the air. When he does return ...
“When A-Rod is back, the traveling secretary will book future charters through Southwest, where excess baggage flies free.”
I found the above online so I can’t claim credit for it, but, I think it is funny.
Moving on ...
A big HAPPY BIRTHDAY shout-out to my niece, Donna Parker, who lives in Englewood, CO, with her darling daughter Josie==>Love and hugs from Uncle Bill.
Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>1.41 miles (or, 3,086 steps)
Total mileage since 7/1/13==>70.20 miles (average 3.90 miles per day)
GO YANKEES!!
