Thursday==>Well, my loyal and faithful readers and followers, Wednesday was not one of Billi Pod’s better days here in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World.
I will now share with you why, beginning with his report court on yesterday’s theater event ...
THE MOUND BUILDERS, about archaeologists trying to dig up the ancient past while covering up the present==>C.
I found this revival of Lanford Wilson’s drama to be mostly disappointingly dull, except for the final 20 minutes. The characters were mostly under-developed and the acting mostly so-so. I can certainly understand why the show received mostly ho-hum reviews.
Oh, well ... as “they” mostly say ... you mostly can’t win them all.
I was able to do a bit of walking and wandering before and after the show and that was nice.
Several kinda interesting events showed up on my ticket services, but I opted to by-pass them and stay in for the evening to watch game 3 of the YANKEES/INDIANS series @ 7:05pm from Cleveland.
At 7:00pm I turned on the tube and learned that the game was in a rain delay. F**K!! Well, the YES crew kept saying that every effort would be made to get the game in because of severe problems in rescheduling a makeup game.
Oh, well ... nothing I could do about it so I just chilled. Then, around 8:30pm came the announcement that the game had been postponed. Bummer!!
Billi Pod was really restless by this time so he decided he would spend the next 90 minutes in a walk and wander session ... when ... kaboom ... kaboom ... thunder and lightning and then pouring rain. Bummer!!
And it rained for the next 90 minutes. Not only did the rain here disrupt his walking and wandering plans but the band of thunderstorms in the Northeast also disrupted the scheduled games on ESPN2 and MLB and that was another bummer.
Yeah ... Wednesday basically SUCKED!!
Hopefully today’s scheduled entertainment doubleheader will be better, beginning with a staged reading at The York Theatre, a part of their Developmental Reading Series ...
3:00==>BIG RED SUN - “A son searches for his father through the aftermath of WW II, as Swing gives way to the dizzying new energies of Jazz and the first raw sounds of Rock and Roll.” (staged reading - free ticket)
After the show I will come back to PHC for my usual pre-theater snack, a fruit and cheese plate, then it will be time to head uptown to Carnegie Hall for ...
8:00==>HONORING ISRAEL CONCERT @ Carnegie Hall - “Featuring multiple soloists performing with: the Denver and the Mile High Orchestra; the Philadelphia Boys Choir and Chorale; the Manhattan Pop Orchestra; and, the Christian Cultural Center Choir.” (concert - complimentary ticket)
Of course I have no idea where my comp. seat will be but, as I have reported many times before, it really doesn’t matter because of the awesome acoustics in Carnegie Hall.
On a sports note ...
Tonight at 7:05pm it will be the final game of the YANKEE/INDIANS series in Cleveland. It will be Phil Hughes (0-1), coming off a woeful first start vs. Zach McAllister (0-1) for the Indians.
No makeup date for the rain-out has been announced.
Moving on to one of those “Only In New York” things ...
Some of you may remember the scandal involving former Rep. Anthony Weiner, who resigned in disgrace after sexting suggestive photos of his crotch to a 21-year-old female college student.
Well, my loyal and faithful readers and followers, Weiner is considering running for Mayor of New York City. WTF??
As might be expected, this announcement has generated a firestorm of coverage in the local papers and some of the headlines are incredible ... like ...
“WEINER’S SECOND COMING! Anthony: Erect me Mr. Mayor.” - front page of the New York Post.
“HOT WEINER ADDS SPICE: His ‘sextual healing’ roils race for mayor.” - inside the Daily News
“Weiner Jolts Mayor’s Race By Saying He May Enter It.” - inside the New York Times
Yeah==>only in New York, folks, only in New York!!
Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>4.15 miles (or, 9,080 steps)
Total mileage since 7/1/12==>1,329.81 miles
GO YANKEES!!
