Saturday==>We will get today’s posting started with a review of Billi Pod’s excellent Friday ... starting with ...
In the morning I had my first full walk and wander session since my surgical procedure on Tuesday. I walked 2.15 miles and then in the evening I did part of my usual walking regimen during the Yankees/White Sox game. This resulted in total mileage for the day==>4.29 miles. Not bad, IMHO.
As planned, in the afternoon I walked over to the Regal Complex in Winter Park Village to see ...
THE INTERN, about a retired successful businessman and widower (Robert De Niro) who lands an internship at a fashion website run by a young, career-driven woman (Ann Hathaway)==>B+
This is an adult story with real life issues, including marital infidelity, loneliness, loss of confidence in one's own abilities and cross-generational friendships, majorly enhanced by the chemistry between De Niro and Hathaway.
De Niro is totally charming, disarming and likeable, which is a major departure from many of his prior roles. I found Hathaway to be very believable as the workaholic boss who is over-stressed with many issues, including her family-life.
There are plenty of laughs but also several very emotional and thought-provoking scenes.
Billi Pod says==>This is a show for everyone to see.
When the show was over I came back to the apartment and settled in to watch the Yankee/White Sox game.
Dammit - the Yankees lost 5-2 due to a lackluster performance from CC Sabathia, who gave up 2 HRS in the 7th inning, and limp bats that resulted in 4 rally killing double plays.
It was a very frustrating game to watch.
Luckily, we still have a comfortable lead in the wild card race. And, folks, remember ... both teams in last year’s World Series made it there via the wild card.
As Yogi said==>It ain’t over ‘til it’s over.
This afternoon at 4:05pm, from Yankee Stadium, The House That Greed and Ego Built, will be game 3 of the 4-game series.
On the mound for the Yankees (84-69) will be Adam Warren (6-7), looking for his first win since reentering the starting rotation vs. John Danks (7-13), who has a career record of 3-3 against the Yankees, for the Sox (73-81)
Billi Pod’s plans for this afternoon and evening will be to remain in the cool and comfortable confines of his apartment, watching sports, baseball and college football.
The Vols are still only 1.5 point favorites but deep in my gut I have a feeling that they will win by a score of 21-10. Hope I am wrong, of course.
OK, my loyal and faithful readers and followers, it is time to post this and then settle in to watch some college football, beginning with the UCF/South Carolina game.
GO YANKEES AND GO GATORS!!
Yesterday’s mileage==>4.29 miles (or, 9,373 steps)
Total mileage for 2015==>1,083.18 miles (average 4.04 miles per day)
