Saturday - Billi Pod Has An Interesting Day Planned

A beautiful Saturday morning in The Big Apple. As you loyal and faithful readers will find out below, today is gonna be very interesting, so read on ...

But before that-Billi Pod’s first Fringe Festival report card:

LOVE IN THE TIME OF SWINE FLU-->B

GHOST OF DRACULA-->B-

Both were very well acted.

Today is a Fringe Festival frenzy ranging all over downtown and the East Village. I will be leaving PHC @ 11:45am and back around 10:30pm, hopefully.

12:45-->MOBUS-“Montgomery struggles with the challenges of teen life-a dysfunctional family and sexuality. But, beneath lies a secret that springs from the fragility of his genius.”

4:30-->MACCHIN: THE LAMENTABLE TRAGEDY OF JAY LENO-“lovable all-American funnyman or ruthless power-hungry killer ala Macbeth? What happens when the cameras stop rolling? For one king to rise, another must die.”

7:45-->AN IDIOT-“Prince Myshkin runs for U.S. Senate to incite a Christian revolution. He helps a recovering alcoholic win a porn-star's love, but can compassion prevent murder?”

Yep, I think that it will be an interesting day, but it is up to you loyal and faithful readers to decide, because...

I report - you decide.

Friday - Billi Pod is Back to "Normal"

Good morning everyone from The Greatest City in The World. The weekend is upon us.

I am happy to report that things are back to “normal” for Billi Pod, so let me start with a report card on-->DESPICABLE ME-“an animated movie about a criminal mastermind (voiced by Steve Carell) who plots to steal the moon”--->see it<--if you have the option, see it in 3D and make sure to stay through all of the final credits. It is lots of fun for all ages.

Today The Fringe Festival begins for Billi Pod and my scheduled shows are:

5:00-->LOVE IN THE TIME OF SWINE FLU-“a comedy about sex, dating and everything else terrifying, such as STD’s, Wall Street bankers and vampires.”(FF)

7:30-->GHOST OF DRACULA-“the bastard child of ‘Dracula’ and ‘The Breakfast Club,’ with a lot more blood and music-there's sex, rocket propelled grenades, piss made of holy water and a ghost vampire.”(FF)

I am really looking forward to seeing SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD, starring Michael Cera as a 22 year old bass player in a rock band who must defeat his new girlfriend’s seven evil exes in order to win her heart. It opens today and I will see it either Sunday evening or some time Monday.

Oh, just made plans to fly down to Columbia, SC, over Labor Day weekend to be with family to celebrate oldest grandson Alex Falletta’s 30th birthday. You rock Army Guy!!

Blah Day Number Two - WTF???

In the name of fair and unbiased reporting I have to share with you that Billi Pod just had his second BLAH day in a row. WTF?? Well, ...

A decent day was turned into a BLAH day in mid-afternoon when I started exchanging emails (for the second time) with the loan officer handling the financing for Bill III’s new house in Orlando. Won’t bore you with details except to say that I hate fax machines. I don’t have one so I rely on the Copy Center at the Staples in my ‘hood. Hours wasted, no joke, hours.

Canceled movie plans and stayed in yet again to watch the Yankees/Rangers game, while sucking my thumb. The Yankees had a late come-from-behind win in the top of the 9th keeping the day from turning into a SUCKY/F**KY DAY. Oh well ...

On a positive note - Friday is the beginning of The New York International Fringe Festival, the largest multi-arts festival in North America, with more than 200 companies from all over the world performing for 16 days in more than 20 venues, all in the downtown area.

Granted, the offerings are sometimes hit-or-miss, but over the years I have seen many more hits than misses. Last year I saw 11 shows/performances. I have 2 shows booked for Friday and 3 for Saturday - more details later.

Also, was able to score 2 tickets to the Army vs. Notre Dame game at Yankees stadiium, the first football game in the new stadium, for November 20th. Really looking forward to that experience.

Nothing yet for today on any of my ticket services so I still have seeing a movie on my entertainment agenda.

Billi Pod Has A BLAH Day

Good morning.

OK, I gotta report that even Billi Pod has an occasional BLAH day and Tuesday was one of those. Why? I honestly don’t know. Did the usual errands and stuff, then mid-afternoon I suddenly didn’t want to go to my Lincoln Center concert, so I emailed a friend and made arrangements for him to pick up my ticket. Wasn’t feeling bad, just didn’t want to go, so I stayed in PHC, became a couch-potato and watched the Yankee/Rangers game, which the Yankees lost in the 10th when Mo blew it. BLAH AND DOUBLE BLAH!!!

Anyway, nothing planned for today so will probably catch a movie, either DESPICABLE ME (in 3D) or CHARLEY ST. CLOUD.

Nice thing about having two major movie theaters within 1 1/2 blocks of PHC, I have my choice of 25 currently running shows.

Tuesday - Back to "Normal"????

Good morning my usual loyal and faithful readers. It is another hot and humid day in The Big Apple.

Well, after four consecutive days/nights of baseball Billi Pod will be returning to his "normal" routine. Wait a minute!! Can I use "normal" in any regard relating to Billi Pod's Big Apple life-style? Probably not, but then it is up to you loyal and faithful readers to decide, because I only report - you decide. Right??

About yesterday - if you were at the Yankees/FuckSox afternoon game yesterday and were there just to watch baseball, the game was extremely exciting. If, however, you are a Yankee diehard, like moi, it was extremely disappointing. It was a should’ve/could’ve game, but it wasn’t to be. The FuckSox won 1-2 to even the series 2-2.

Sidenote-->the players brought in to replace Matsui and Damon-->ALL SUCK!!

It was 6:30 when I got back to PHC, so I decided not to go out for the evening. What did I do, you are no doubt breathlessly asking? Well, Billi Pod spent the evening ... watching ... tada ... baseball, of course.

Today will be my usual errands day (a day late), then --

8:00-->MOSTLY MOZART FESTIVAL ORCHESTRA @ Avery Fisher Hall - Mozart: Symphony No.31; Saint-Sans; Gluck; and, Bizet.

Monday - More Baseball

It was a great game last night, with the Yankees winning 7-2 over the FuckSox, behind excellent pitching from Dustin Moseley who filled in at the last moment for an “ailing” AJ Burnett.

My seat was the same as Friday’s game, only this time there were no smelly pathetic obnoxious FuckSox fans in my area. The game was over at 11:15pm and it was 12:20am when I walked into PHC, tired but very happy.

Skipped the “planned” movie to spend the afternoon watching baseball, Atlanta/SF and Mets/Philly, meaning, it was a very very long and intense baseball day.

Today-->no errands etc. because-->2:05-->Yankees/FuckSox, game #4.

I will be in my regular seat but doubt my buds will take off work. Hope those seats don’t end up in the hands of creepy out-of-work drunk FuckSox fans.

Not sure what, if anything, I will do after the game.

Yankees vs Boston FuckSox - game 3

A kinda hazy day in The Greatest City in The World as Billi Pod awaits game 3 of the Yankees/FuckSox series, this game starting at 8:05pm due to ESPN coverage, meaning the game will be painfully long, meaning I will leave the stadium at 11:30PM at the earliest. Thank you so very much MLB.

Will catch a movie early afternoon, either DESPICABLE ME (in 3D) or CHARLEY ST. CLOUD, starring Zac Efron.

As you know, yesterday afternoon The Yankees beat the FuckSox 5-2 behind excellent pitching from ace CC Sabathia and clutch hitting from the lower part of the batting order. David Ortiz aka Big Poppi struck out 3 times - how nice.

Was seated with my usual buds but we had some scumbag smelly pitiful FuckSox fans seated behind us, who, of course, left the game sobbing and wailing.

Report Card on The Other Guys

Good morning my loyal and faithful readers. It is a beautiful summer day in The Big Apple.

First, a report card on THE OTHER GUYS-->see it<--one of the funniest movies I have seen in a long time. The dry humor was tremendous and the chemistry between Will Farrell and Mark Walberg was obvious. The story is a bit predictable but the laughter is legitimate. Only downside-->it is a bit long and could be trimmed by about 15 minutes. If you want/need a good summer laugh then this definitely is the movie to see. If you go, be sure to stay through the credits at the end. Kinda strange.

Today-4:05 (thank you Fox)-->Yankees/FuckSox, game #2 with CC pitching.

Oh, last night the FuckSox beat the Yankees 6-3 and, dammit to Hell, my extra game ticket was next to two FuckSox fans, making an unpleasant experience even worse-->Barf-->and double Barf.

The Rays lost too - so The Yankees remain in first place.

Another Doubleheader for Billi Pod

It is hot and very humid in The Big Apple this Friday morning, the beginning of a very interesting weekend.

Yesterday I finally got around to seeing DINNER FOR SCHMUCKS, starring Steve Carell and Paul Rudd, and-->it was every bit as funny as I hoped it would be. If you are in the mood for some over-the-top humor-->see it<-->if not, don’t.

Today will be another doubleheader for Billi Pod, rather unusal for a Friday:

noon (the opening day)-->THE OTHER GUYS, starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg-“Two mismatched NYC detectives seize an opportunity to step up like the city’s top cops whom they idolize -- only things don’t quite go as planned.” Man, this is my kind of comedy (I hope, I hope, I hope).

7:05-->Yankees/Boston FuckSox-->The FuckSox have been riddled with injuries and, to quote a local paper: “YANKS CAN PUT SOX IN PINE BOX-Look to make battered Boston has-Beans.” Oh yeah ...

Yes indeed, a very interesting day.

A-Rod Hits #600 - Billi Pod Was There

Yes, my loyal and faithful readers, yesterday was a big day for Billi Pod because ...

3 years to the day that A-Rod hit his 500th HR, he became the 7th and youngest player in MLB history to hit 600 HR’s. It was a lst inning bomb into Monument Park. The crowd of 47,659 went wild and Billi Pod was among them in his usual seat. Yep, that is the photo I took on my beloved iPhone. The Yankees won 5-1, Hughes pitched well and the bullpen did its job. The Rays lost so the Yankees are again tied for first place.

Friday the Boston FuckSox come into town for a crucial 4 game series and I have tickets for each game. There are 28 remaining home games and I will be at 19 of them.

Trust me, the AL East will be a nail biter until the final game on Oct. 3 against, who else, The FuckSox in Boston.

Today I plan to see DINNER FOR SCHMUCKS, starring Steve Carell and Paul Rudd, because Billi Pod is in that kinda mood.

Wednesday - What Is That Smell????

Well, a good Wednesday morning to all of my loyal and faithful readers.

Yesterday I saw the movie THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT-a comedy/drama-“a lesbian couple’s teenage kids find the sperm donor who made their family possible”-->very well performed and reviewed-a believable story that doesn’t get maudlin. I highly recommend it.

Today-1:05-->Yankees/Toronto. The second f**king place Yankees try to avoid a sweep. They stunk up the stadium last night losing 2-8. A-Rod remains stuck at #599 and his bat has gone dead, as has the rest of the team.

Now, hold up before you start flaming me-->no, Billy Pod doesn’t expect them to win every game but I do expect them to play with intensity rather than sleeping walking as they are doing now. They are baseball’s reigning World Champions and they need to f**king play like it, every f**king game. This is all I ask.

July 2010 - AWESOME!!

Well, the stats for July 2010 are now complete and they once again reflect the reason(s) why Billi Pod lives in The Greatest City in The World.

In checking my daily log (log, not diary - real guys don’t keep diaries) I find that during the month of July 2010 Billi Pod did/saw/attended the following:

4 Broadway shows (Next to Normal; The Addams Family; Promises, Promises; and, American Idiot); 17 Off Broadway shows; 2 New York Philharmonic concerts; 1 rock concert (Strawberry Fields); 2 movies (Cyrus; and, Grown Ups); a helicopter tour of Manhattan; and, 7 Yankees games (3 wins & 4 losses. Season-to-date record 18 & 11).

Of course the highlight of the month was the weekend with oldest grandson Alex Falletta (aka Army Guy aka Lex) of Elgin, SC. Was also able to spend some quality time with student/General Manager Scott Reed and UCF professor David Lee. I am also happy to report that the semiannual urology appointment went well, once again.

I posted regularly to my FaceBook Wall http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?ref=name&id=100000655659050 and 34 times on this blog, although in an abbreviated format.

The downsides of the month: 12 years since my dear friend Bill Mullon of Anna Maria, FL, left us and the sweltering heat.

During the month there were only 3 days/nights that Billi Pod stayed in apartment PHC without attending some entertainment event, a pretty awesome stat in my humble opinion, but it is up to you loyal and faithful readers to decide, because ...

I report and you decide.

Billi Pod Ain't Happy!!

Good morning my ... ohhhhhhhhhh, dammit to Hell, it ain’t a good morning for Billi Pod, because, well ....

Let’s see--->AJ goes 4 2/3 innings giving up 8 hits and 8 runs; A-Rod goes 0-5 and obviously does not hit #600; the Yankees lose 6-8; the Tampa Bay Rays win their game; sooooooooooo--->The Yankees and The Rays are now tied for first place in the AL East. F**K and double F**K!!!

Anyway, entertainment stats for July are awesome - will post later today.

Gonna catch a movie tonight-probably DINNER FOR SCHMUCKS starring Steve Carell (wonder if AJ was invited??).

So, a final shout-out to AJ--->YOU F**KING SUCK!!!

Monday - The Norris Travel Curse Is Genetic

Good morning everyone from The Greatest City in The World.

Well, in the name of fair and unbiased reporting I have to reveal that The Norris Travel Curse is apparently genetic because Alex’s Delta flight was 2 hours late leaving LGA, meaning he got back to Columbia, SC, at 1:00am this morning. Sorry ‘bout that Army Guy.

Today is the usual Monday errands and stuff during the day, then the Yankees/Toronto game at 7:05. The Yankees lead over The Rays is now only 1 game and A-Rod remains stuck at #599 - “Come on Alex, hit it and let’s move on, please.”

Speaking of the Rays - I want to remind you, my loyal and faithful readers, of what I said about them at the beginning of the season. The following is from the blog posting http://wanorrisjr.blogspot.com/2010/04/billi-pods-sunday-update.html on April 25, 2010:

“In my opinion their main opponent in the AL East will be, not the Boston FuckSox, but the Tampa Bay Rays. The Rays have a very good team and could go all the way to The World Series, no joke.”

Just remember where you heard it first.

Alex & Billi Pod in The Big Apple

Alex and Billi Pod say - greetings from the Big Apple.

What a wonderful Saturday we had. Brunch and Beatles music concert by tribute band Strawberry Fields at BB Kings was lots of fun. Afterwards we spent time just wandering around, including walking through Central Park and then back to PHC.

The evening-->4 PLAY-THE FLYING KARAMOZOV BROTHERS, down in the Village-->mega-excellent. After the show we walked back to 420 W. 42nd, stopping for way too much food at Dallas BBQ on 14th Street. It was midnight when we got back, ending a day that can only be described as AWESOME!! Oh, yes!!

Today was the tour of Yankees Stadium followed by lunch at The Hard Rock Cafe in the stadium. When we got back to PHC we just chilled.

Alex has just left, headed back to SC.

Hey, Army Guy, it was awesome being with you.

Love ya lots,

Granddaddy aka Billi Pod
