Billi Pod Says==>HAPPY SAINT PATRICK'S DAY!!

Yes==>HAPPY SAINT PATRICK’S DAY to all of my loyal and faithful readers out there in the wilderness, hinterlands and boondocks.

In The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World, St. Paddy’s Day is an excuse to binge-drink, act like an asshole, puke, and then pass out.

The annual parade starts at 11:00am @ 44th Street and travels, or maybe staggers is the operative word, North up 5th Avenue to 86th Street, ending around 5:00pm. The weather is supposed to be excellent, clear and in the upper 60s.

The last time the parade was on a Saturday was 2002 and at that time there was a record crowd of 3 million spectators and 300,000 marchers.

Will Billi Pod be there you are no doubt breathlessly asking? No way. Been there, done that.

Now, moving on to other more important things ... like ... Billi Pod’s report card on last night’s entertainment event ...

ETERNAL EQUINOX, about a dashing mountaineer’s surprise visit to the summer home of two of Britain's most important artists, Duncan Grant and Vanessa Bell==>C-<==over-acted with totally unlikeable privileged English characters.

Should have left at intermission but I didn’t. Act 2 is, however, somewhat better than Act 1.

Question==>why are most English gays portrayed as flamboyant limp-wristed fops? Jus askin’ ...

Anyway ... today is yet another entertainment doubleheader for Billi Pod ...

2:00==>HAND TO GOD - “A trash-talking hand puppet takes charge of its shy teenage handler at a Christian Puppet Ministry. Has the devil been let in?” (Off Broadway - complimentary ticket)

I saw this show during its first run in December 2011 and totally loved it and gave it an A back then.

Without a doubt this is just the kind of show that Billi Pod is in the mood for today.

Then, for tonight is, hopefully, more comedy ...

8:00==>THE YEATS GAME: A Farce of Improbable Darkness - “A farce about middle-age choices and their ridiculous consequences as old friends explore love, lust, marriage and mischief in a booze, Viagra, dice-driven romp about middle-age choices and their ridiculous consequences.” (Off Broadway - complimentary ticket)

Yeah ... I know. Make no mistake about it ... this will, without a doubt, fall into the “love-it or hate-it” category.

I decided to take a chance on it because it is playing at a theatre close to my apartment building meaning, hopefully, I won’t be too exposed to the still standing St. Paddy’s Day booze-hounds.

BREAKING NEWS==>On Friday the Yankees re-signed Andy Pettitte, who retired in February 2011, to a one-year minor-league contract worth $2.5 million.

Andy just attended spring training as a special instructor and apparently got the “itch” to return.

Andy left the game after 16 seasons with a record of 240-138 and 3.88 ERA. He is the MLB record holder for post season wins with a 19-10 record.

As might be expected this was a major sports item in the local papers ...

"I’M BACK! Pettitte comes out of retirement.” - NY Post

"ANDY’S BACK - Pettitte’s curveball: 2.5M Yankee deal.” - Daily News

“Yanks’ Pettitte, 39, Signs On for Comeback” - NY Times.

It will really be interesting to see how this plays out. Stay tuned.

Oh ... Payton Manning reportedly told The Dolphins that he wasn’t interested in signing with them. Oh, the drama ...

Well, I will close by posting with the third of the seven “Musings from “THE MIND OF BILLI POD (a memoir in progress)” that were accepted by Philosoraptor, The Pontificating Velociraptor of Our Time ...

Honestly ... what does this mean ...

GO YANKEES AND GO GATORS!!
